On Friday December 20th, 2013 the Red Cloud Cheerleaders did it again! They held the LNI Cheer Competition Championship Title for the fifth time in a row, blowing thousands of spectators away with their amazing talents. The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center’s arena was rumbling with excitement even before the “Angels in Blue” began their dance routine.

“Before we performed the dance, I was super nervous and afraid that I was going to mess up in front of the judges,” stated Cheer captain Kylie Iatala ‘14. “But after, I was so proud of my team because we worked so hard and spent so much hours and we ended up performing it so well.”

The Red Cloud Cheerleaders are a well known cheer squad throughout the entire state and are a huge inspiration for many younger generations. Holding the Lakota Nation Invitational Cheer Competition title for the fifth time in a row was a huge accomplishment for the Red Cloud Cheerleaders. Having lots of expectations to uphold was tough, yet again these cheerleaders have completely impressed many.

“Before the dance, all I could think of is how hard the girls worked and how bad they wanted to be the 5-peat champions. I was so excited and was literally on the edge of my seat throughout the entire dance,” happily states Cheer Coach Shelby McGhee. “I looked in the crowd and saw the joy they brought to the fans. Right after the rah-rahs performed, I felt an overflow of proudness and accomplishment even without the winning results. The hard work and effort they put in had really paid off. I wouldn’t want to be the coach of any other squad!”

Many weekends, hours, and loss of sleep brought the Red Cloud Cheerleaders an LNI Championship for the fifth year in a row and also brought a challenge upon themselves to find someway to top the 2013 LNI dance.

Check out their title-winning performance.
