Red
Cloud vs. STM
By Sierra Concha '13
The stands were filled with blue as
the crowd haunted STM with their loud cheers. Hundreds had come to watch the
two rivals play each other last night in the Red Cloud gym. The players were
dripping with sweat by the end of the first quarter, but STM eventually came out with
a win of 56-35. It was heartbreaking to watch Red Cloud players’ faces drop as
the time on the clock lessened. The student section continued to cheer on our
friends until the last buzzer pounded into everyone’s ears. Dominic Pilcher was
the leading scorer last night with a total of 10 points, and Duran Richards was
right behind him with 9 points.
Their heads hung low as they walked
out of the locker room, but Sader fans still believe the boys will bring their
best game in the upcoming weeks. This was the most anticipated game of the year
for the players, but now they plan on using this past loss as motivation to
work harder. There is still the Pine Ridge game to practice for this Saturday
in Rapid City, and many more will be there to support both the boys and girls
basketball team as they play against our local rival. No one has lost faith in
Red Cloud despite this loss, and many will continue to support the incredibly
talented team on their journey to districts.
