Fast Wolf is Fast

Last Monday morning three out of four Cross Country State qualifiers showed up to school a little disappointed, but for one student joyed filled his heart.
Jack Fast Wolf ended his first high school cross country season by placing 9th overall in the state in Rapid City.
Jack, a sophomore here at RCHS, came out of cross country retirement this season. The last time he participated in cross country was in 2011 when he attended Red Shirt Middle School. This season Jack pushed himself to his full potential and never gave up. Even when they practiced and competed in scorching hot weather, which occasionally hit three digits, or in weather so chilly that their noses were running and the tips of their ears as red as Rudolph’s nose. Either way, Jack had a fun and successful season this year.
When asked how he felt about making it to state and placing 9th for his first high school season, Jack replied, “It was great and I really had a lot of fun.”
When he isn’t playing sports or studying for school, Jack participates in Rock Band as a part of our after-school program. With basketball season approaching quickly, everyone is getting excited and hoping to see Jack back out on the court, especially since he was a major contribution to our freshmen and junior varsity teams last year. We all hope to see him excel in his extra-curricular activities, but most importantly, in his academics. Student comes before athlete in “Student-Athlete.”
