Girls Golf Tees Off

The Red Cloud girls golf team kicked off their season on March 26th with a meet in Hot Springs. Leannah Vitalis '16 took sixth place with a score of 52. She was the top performer for Red Cloud.
The girls golf team includes Shania Janis '15, Koty Janis '15, Leannah Vitalis '16, Bella New Holy '16, and Payton Sierra '17.
Government teacher Patrick McElwee is the coach for the golf team. “The
team is good so far. They're really young and not the most experienced
team,” McElwee said. “But the first meet they did pretty well and they
are going to improve a lot over the next few years.”
McElwee’s team practices mostly outside either at Red Cloud or at the Gordon golf course. Since the weather has been bad recently, McElwee was forced to conduct practice inside the school in his classroom. His team is now working on their chipping and putting skills.
The golf team's next meet will be Thursday in Spearfish.
