Snow Storm in April
By David Ladeaux '13
During the last three days, western South Dakota was hit by a massive snow storm, leaving over 20 inches of snow in some places. Red Cloud School was closed for three days due to the record snow storm.
Not
only Red Cloud but all Shannon County Schools and Pine Ridge, Little
Wound and Rapid City schools were off for two to three days of school
due to snow. As classes resume for the rest of us today, Wolf Creek School remained closed today because the roof over the middle school office caved in from
all of the snow piled up on top.
Towns such as Rapid City, Pine Ridge and Kyle received over 22 inches of snow during the three day snow storm. “I was surprised that Red Cloud had three days off, but I enjoyed it," said senior Sierra Concha. Snow plows and sand trucks were out all night and day making sure the roads were safe for school bus travel and early morning workers. “It wasn’t a lot of fun for me because I had to shovel a lot of snow," said senior Phil Zimiga. "Shoveling snow is hard work.”
